Situation
In an effort to build a new generation of brand loyalists, Windows Mobile engaged HL2 to redesign Microsoft.com/windowsphone to introduce the new Windows phone brand. This website was built to support the launch of the Windows Mobile 6.5 operating system, all while promoting an enjoyable, unified brand experience that invited the consumer into the purchase path. Additionally, the redesign had to ensure that the target audience, defined as “Life Maximizers,” could discover the right phone to help simplify their lives, enrich daily experiences and make the most of every moment.
Approach
HL2 introduced the Windows phone brand with an entirely new chrome, fresh messaging, engaging brand photography and fully integrated visual architecture. We developed new page templates and executed a comprehensive CSS cleanup to ensure consistency and clarity across the site. And an exciting Silverlight element on the home page was designed to entice site visitors into the purchase path and to drive traffic to the delightful “Find a phone” application.
Outcome
The site launched on October 6, 2009. Early results show a marked increase in clicks to retail partners and positive buzz around the new Windows phone brand.
